Fortified mansion in Skrzyszów
History:
Erected about the middle of the XVI. century for Hieronim Mielecki, starost of Brzeski and Sandomierski districts.
In the XVIII century it becomes the property of the family Lubieniecki and in the XIX. century of the family Skrzyński. In the 2nd half of the XIX century the mansion together with 200 ha field and forests was bought by family Paliszewski, which was the owner to 1939.
Architecture:
Mansion erected in the 1st half of the XVI century, facing to North-East. Built in brick, corners in lime cut stone, plastered.
Two-stories building:, foundation on square projection, cellar, primarily of fortified character. Cellars with barrel vault. In the ground floor cross barrel vaults. The stories are separated by profiled fireplace cornice. Rectangular windows, semicircular closing with limestone columns.
In the North-East corner wooden, round stairs. Entrance opening is adorned by gothic limestone portal, double rhombus block door with iron gallets. In the staircase shooter window form XVI century. Around the mansion building fragments of ground fortifications from the 1st half of the XVI century.
In the North-West corner of the fortification there is a wooden chapel form the 2nd halt of the XIX century.
After outbreak of the 2nd World War the Germans pacified the village Skrzyszów and took up quarters in the mansion. The steward was German Bożek.
After the war the owners were (one after the other): Piotr Chłędowski, Stanisław Karbowniczek, Elżbieta daughter of Stanisław and her son Zbigniew Karbowniczek, who sold the mansion in 1988 The next owner was Tadeusz Lech. The renovation of the mansion, which was going to ruin since the 2nd World War, ended in 1996. It was carried out in accordance with rules of conservator art, under the supervision of the District Conservator, Mr. Zbigniew Jucha.
Round the mansion a 0,5 ha garden with flowers and decorative shrubs has been planned and arranged. It is decorated by three trees - nature monuments: 350 years old petiole oak and two 200 years old limes.
